I.Strategic Marketing Manager Location: Shanghai
Reports to: Business Director China
Overall Function: The Strategic Marketing Manager, China is a critical person on the KH team in China. The position serves as the principle advisor to the Business Director, China for business strategies and commercial activities and is the primary link to product management and strategic marketing at Kemin Headquarters in Des Moines, IA USA. The Strategic Marketing Manager must be able to tend to operational sales and marketing activities as well as develop and implement commercial plans and long-term strategies.
Major Responsibilities:
•Provides KH executive leadership with the strategic narrative of the current and future market space from nutritional ingredient to consumer in China, to include Hong Kong.
•Conduct primary and secondary market research to identify business opportunities and priorities.
• Develop a comprehensive strategic market analysis which includes consumer, customer, competitor, KOLs as well as market, and environmental analysis. Update annually.
• Segment all potential customers by distribution model (i.e. MLM, retail, etc.) and recommend tailor made account strategies.
• Recommend and detail long-term commercial strategies to the Business Director, China
• Develop methods to measure commercial progress (i.e. market share) in a rapidly growing and changing marketplace.
• Lead product launches for China. Work cross functionally and across regions to leverage work in other geographies and ensure consistency of positioning and messaging. Importantly, positioning should be tailored to ensure relevant and appropriate features/benefits for Chinese customers and consumers.
• Continuously assess the competitive landscape.
• Inform and advise China Business Director on new ideas for Kemin products/innovations; continuously identify potential unmet needs and possible solutions that Kemin could commercialize.
• Work closely with Regulatory Affairs and Technical Service on registration strategies to ensure that KH is taking appropriate risk relative to timeliness and the commercial reward.
• In charge of developing and translating all applicable marketing collateral to include sales presentations, brochures, sell sheets, technical literature, etc.
• Develop media plan, incorporating paid and nonpaid advertising placement, direct mail, e-blasts, social media, website, public relations, press releases, editorial opportunities, interviews, etc.
• In charge of tradeshows, seminars, conferences, and meetings to include all associated logistics and material planning.
• Spends minimum 15 days per quarter calling on customers, interacting with key opinion leaders and other influencers, and training sales staff. This includes time tradeshows and other trade events.
• Develop and continuously improve the list of customer insights (as defined by the KCAP selling model) that the sales team can provide to customers.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, chemistry or nutrition (or related degree) with 8-10 years of experience in marketing or sales in the health food or dietary supplements market Ideal candidate will have strong marketing experience in the health food or dietary supplements market in China as well as scientific education or experience.
• Understanding of business-to-business marketing and the complex regulatory environment in China governing health food and dietary supplements.
• Ability to write develop commercial business plans including the interrelationships between consumers, customer and KOLs.
• Ability to develop and execute on a content marketing strategy.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of leading advanced market research principles & practices, including conjoint analysis, customer panels, cost of ownership modeling, and other research techniques
• Ability to clearly and crisply communicate marketing data, analysis, plans, recommendations, and other deliverables.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills - - ability to analyze complicated business issues where information is limited.
• Ability to think well beyond the obvious; to take creative routes to solve seemingly unsolvable questions.
• Ability to lead and influence people with and without formal authority.
• A high degree of personal motivation and passion; a desire to make an immediate contribution with a distinct sense of urgency.

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
• Effective written and oral communication skills with a minimal English proficiency level of Intermediate Mid as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
